My kids came home from dad's this week and they told me that my son who is 6 yrs old and suffers from pretty severe ADHD was forced to be a baby while he was there. Apparently he had thrown a temper tantrum and they told him if he was going to act like a baby, he would be treated like one.

They made him eat nothing but baby food from the jars, required him to wear a diaper and made him sit in a basket in the tub so he wouldn't tip over. THey took away all his big boy toys.

I feel very concerned for his well being after hearing this. Am I being overbearing because this doesn't seem like effective parenting to me?

You shouldn't have done this to a 6 year old kid.

This definitely does not sound like effective parenting to me.What ever tantrums your child throws, he should not be treated in this way at all. This kind of punishment can cause a lot of problem in your child's confidence. Please do try talking to your ex and tell not to do that ever again. If you find it hard to tell it to him at least make any of relatives tell him.
