TaylorMade Burner 2.0 Irons Hanse opted for few mid-length par fours for the players that won’t let the track just be nothing but drivers and pitching wedges and short irons for the players. With a few short and drivable par-4s — and then longer ones that will require full irons, there’s plenty of room on the course for volatility. The finishing three holes will be the most memorable part of the track.

It will be played on a course designed by Gil Hanse, on a plot of land that seven years ago was gnarly scrub and sandy marsh, in a city where environmental concerns, legal quagmires and public distrust complicated every transaction.

Maybe the expectations were just lowered after months of bad PR, but overall, the opening round was a success.

Callaway X-24 Irons Marcus Fraser of Australia, who produced some superb golf on the Gil Hanse designed course carved into the Marapendi Nature Reserve. The 38-year-old produced nine birdies with a single bogey for an Olympic course record eight-under 63.
